What this is, and what it is not

Chat Club Ltd is registered for other education not elsewhere classified (SIC 85590) and other human health activities (SIC 86900), and is registered at Paget Avenue in Sutton.

What we run is practice. People come to talk, to get used to conversation again, to build confidence speaking, or to rehearse something specific like an interview or a presentation. Sessions are small, nobody is graded, and nobody has to speak before they are ready.

Now the part that matters more than the description. This is not therapy and it is not healthcare. We do not diagnose any condition, we do not assess anyone, we do not treat anything, and we do not offer speech and language therapy. No one acting for us holds themselves out as a speech and language therapist, a practitioner psychologist, an occupational therapist, a physiotherapist, a dietitian or an arts therapist, or uses any other title protected by law for registered health professionals - those titles may only be used by people on the Health and Care Professions Council register, and using them otherwise is a criminal offence.

If what you need is a diagnosis, an assessment or treatment, the right route is your GP, who can refer you to a registered professional. We will say that plainly rather than take a booking, and we would rather lose the work than blur the line.

Our sessions are for adults aged 18 and over. We do not provide sessions for children or for adults at risk, because that is work with safeguarding and disclosure requirements that have to be in place before it is offered, not afterwards.
